Spanish people are passionate and love life and their lifestyle and culture reflects this. Socialising is an important and big part of their lives.

Despite all the extraordinary wealth displayed in its art and heritage buildings, Spain also offers numerous modern amenities, beautiful beaches and warm hospitality. Not surprisingly, Spain is the second most popular tourist destination in the whole world, second only to France.

Spain has contributed significantly to European and Latin American history over the past 500 years.

Spanish is the official language of most countries in South and Central America. It is also the world’s second most spoken language, after Mandarin Chinese. It is an official language of the UN and its organizations, and it is the mother tongue of approximately 350 million people in 21 countries. Spanish is widely spoken in several other countries where it is not an official language, noticeably the south- western states of the USA.

The teaching of Spanish language at Australia and New Zealand schools has increased in the last decade. In 2013 approximately 36,500 New Zealand students were studying Spanish at school, as opposed to 25,400 in 2005, which indicates an increase of 43% in 8 years.
